According to the research of Ukrainian Hi-Tech Initiative “Exploring Ukraine IT Outsourcing Industry 2012”, Ukraine occupies the fourth place in the world by the number of IT Professionals. And the number of developers is growing significantly. More than 25,000 (2016: 80,000) IT Professionals worked in Ukrainian companies in 2011 what is 25% more in comparison to the number of developers in 2010.
Every year about 16,000 (2016: 36,000) new IT professionals graduate from universities, and 4,000-5,000 of them are get hired by Ukrainian IT Companies or move abroad to start their international career.
40% of all developers live and work in Kiev, i.e. about 10,000 of such IT Professionals as MS.NET, PHP, Java, C++, Android, iPhone, Ruby on Rails developers, HTML, CSS coders, testers, and graphic designers.
Ukraine has the largest and fastest – growing number of IT professionals in Europe; its IT engineering workforce is expected to double to over 200,000 by 2020.

Ukraine’s technical education is the foundation of Ukraine’s IT ecosystem. Every year the country graduates over 150,000 of students, among which 36,000 are with degrees in technical studies, including some 15,000 IT specialists. Ukraine’s army of more than 90,000 IT professionals makes the country a leader in Central and Eastern Europe by the number of engineers and the number of graduates emerging into the labor market.
Kyiv (Kiev) is the most popular location in Ukraine for opening an R&D center, concentrating over half of all such bases in the country. Other key cities for R&D activity include Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv (Lvov), Odessa, Kharkiv (Kharkov) and Vinnytsia.
